How MapleScore uses cookies and browser storage. We keep it minimal: essential function only. Last updated: May 2026.
Cookies are small text files that websites store in your browser to remember information between page visits. Browser localStorage is a related technology that stores data locally on your device. Both are widely used for platform functionality, analytics, and advertising. MapleScore uses a minimal subset of these technologies — only what is necessary to make the platform function correctly.
MapleScore does not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking cookies, or analytics cookies that report user behaviour to third-party services. All browser storage used by MapleScore is stored locally on your device and does not transmit personal identifiers to external servers.
MapleScore uses browser localStorage (not traditional server-set cookies) for two purposes:
mw_age_ok): When you confirm that you are 18+ at the age gate, we store a flag so you are not shown the age gate again on subsequent visits from the same browser. This is a functional necessity — without it, the gate would reappear on every page load. This flag contains no personal information, only the boolean value "1". It is never transmitted to any server.mw_ck_ok): When you accept or decline cookies via the consent banner, we store your choice so the banner does not reappear. This flag contains only the string "accept" or "decline". It is never transmitted to any server.Neither of these localStorage items contains personally identifiable information. Neither is shared with third parties. Both can be deleted at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this domain.
MapleScore does not set or read: advertising cookies; retargeting or remarketing cookies; analytics cookies (e.g. Google Analytics); social media tracking pixels; A/B testing cookies; affiliate tracking cookies; third-party cookies of any kind. If you have a browser extension that detects cookies, you should find only the two localStorage items described above when visiting MapleScore.
MapleScore operates a minimal consent model: we show a cookie banner, and you may accept or decline. Declining does not restrict your access to the platform because no cookies required for platform access will be set either way — the two localStorage items described above are set after interaction regardless of your cookie consent choice, because they are required for the platform to function as intended.
MapleScore loads the following third-party assets that may themselves set cookies or perform minimal tracking depending on your browser settings and privacy mode:
We do not embed social media plugins, YouTube videos, advertising scripts, or any other third-party content that would set cookies on your device without your knowledge.
You can manage cookies and localStorage through your browser settings. The exact steps vary by browser. Common paths: Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data; Firefox: Options → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data; Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
Clearing MapleScore's site data will remove both localStorage flags. The age gate and cookie banner will reappear on your next visit. This has no other effect on the platform's functionality.
You can also install browser extensions such as uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger to block third-party CDN requests. MapleScore will function normally without Google Fonts and Bootstrap CDN, though the typography and grid layout may differ from the designed presentation.
MapleScore implements Google Consent Mode v2 with all consent signals set to "denied" by default. This means Google tags, if added in the future, will receive denied consent signals until explicit consent is gathered. As of this writing, MapleScore does not use any Google advertising or analytics products. The Consent Mode block is implemented as a forward-compatibility measure.
The full Consent Mode implementation can be inspected in the page source of any MapleScore page within the <script> tag immediately preceding the Bootstrap stylesheet link.
We may update this Cookie Policy as the platform evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. If we begin using additional cookies or storage technologies, we will update this policy before implementing those changes.
